A New Classical Christian School Opens in the Quad Cities

New City Classical Academy Begins It’s Inaugural Year in the Quad Cities

Already a month ago, on Tuesday, September 5th at 8:15 AM we celebrated our first day as a school with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Interim Headmaster and Chairman of the Board, Mr. Alex Arguello, welcomed our families and guests. His son, and secondary school student, Creighton, read our call to worship from Psalm 100. Mr. Arguello then prayed over the school, the faculty, the students, and our families prior to officially cutting the ribbon! We celebrated with a sparkling lemonade toast, and we believe that the Holy Spirit was ever present with us.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 136:1

The First Day of School

Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, our students gave their hugs to mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, and friends and said their goodbyes for the day, and truly began a new adventure.

Mr. Arguello introduced our students and faculty to the liturgy of our morning assembly. We spent the first part of our school year memorizing Psalm 136. A month into school, and our student body has already hid God’s Word into their hearts through memorization, and it is a joy to hear them boldly proclaim their thanksgiving to God, “for He is good and His steadfast love endures forever!” To supplement our time of worship, the students also learned to sing in a call and response format to the hymn "Ever and Aye (Psalm 136)". We profess our faith together, remind each other why we are in school and how we can glorify God in school.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! - Psalm 100:1

God has been good to us through your generosity. Your donations of time and money allowed us to begin our year with many of our needs met. We humbly acknowledge that we still have needs as a school, and we believe that God knows them and will use His people to provide. Please pray for:

  • Our 2023 financial needs of $100,000 to be met (we are over half-way).

  • A dedicated physical education teacher for our grammar students.

  • Safety for our students and faculty.

  • Our student body and faculty as they navigate their days in a new setting!
